Description

The functional module “WB-ADC” is used wherever electrical flows are measured and their currents are monitored. In addition, based on the collected data, the control decisions can be passed on to third-party systems.

Function

The following measuring functions can be carried out, evaluated and displayed via digital outputs or (if available) transmitted via a protocol:

  • Detects overcurrents and undercurrents
  • Determines flow directions
  • Energy measurement
  • Storage of the maximum current value that the system has measured since the last reset or start-up

Depending on the expected current strength, the currents can be determined in different ways:

1.) Directly on the device

DC currents up to 20 A can be determined by connecting directly to the system

2.) Shunt resistance

  • Integration of a shunt resistor that is connected in series in the circuit
  • By external sensors up to 6kA
  • Calibration sensor measurement unit
  • plus auxiliary voltage +-15V/6W and a 4-20mA input

3.) Hall sensor measurement

  • Integration of a Hall sensor measurement through which include the live wire.
  • This eliminates the intervention in the infrastructure
  • By external sensors up to 6kA
  • Calibration sensor measurement unit
  • plus auxiliary voltage +-15V/6W and a 4-20mA input

times event pending

Time(s) for how long a threshold must be present in order to be displayed

Operation

The following functions can be offered as an option. These may also require WBex components

Test button

This optional button can be used to manually activate messages or applications 1)

Reset measured value

Using this option, maximum or minimum measurement values can be saved

Release contact

The release signal is required if the WB component works autonomously and is to be activated or deactivated by a simple signal

LCD display

Parameterization

For security reasons and by popular demand, an on-site configuration option was omitted.

The threshold values can be set at the factory.

If you need several different threshold values in your systems, you can do this using one of our service cases Perform CM1010 / VLD1010. Different parameter sets and software updates can be stored on the service case and imported using an adapter.

It is also possible to transfer the parameters via a SCADA system (the system must be configured using connected to a WB-MC or WB-HS.

Input Signals

The functionality of the base components can be extended by an internal extension OR by another WB component or WBex extension.
