Anyone who maintains measurement, control and regulation systems in underground railway shafts, tunnels or remote infrastructure sites is familiar with the problem: no mains power, no connection – and yet the work still has to be done. That is precisely why we at WITT Solutions have developed two field tool configurations – for engineers and maintenance teams working in the field who need reliable tools, not empty promises.


T1 – Basic configuration: the entry-level option – streamlined, cost-effective and ready to use straight away.

  • Power supply via USB / power bank
  • Basic configuration and fault diagnosis carried out on site
  • Reading and writing parameters
  • no manual intervention on site is required


T2 – All-in-one solution: Everything included in T1, plus:

  • Firmware updates with verified versions from the WITT portal
  • Battery testing and charging – VLDM data retrieval (Distributed Charging Infrastructure Monitoring)
  • for charging infrastructure in accordance with IEC 61851

Both configurations offer parameter management without the need for manual on-site configuration. – Operational data collection for predictive maintenance in accordance with ISO 13381-1,

Fault analysis with data transmission to WITT for remote diagnosis. – Language-independent operation – parameters can be entered in the user’s native language. – Fully offline-capable; can be used without a mobile network. – Firmware flashing is only permitted using verified versions from the WITT portal.

The safety and compliance with standards of critical infrastructure – including railway systems in accordance with EN 50126, EN 50128 and EN 50129 – are now subject to clear regulatory requirements. NIS 2 (EU Directive 2022/2555), the Cyber Resilience Act (EU 2022/0383) and the Cybersecurity Act (EU 2019/881) set out binding standards for digital products throughout their entire lifecycle. The field tools are designed to meet these requirements, including the security standards for industrial control and automation systems in accordance with IEC 62443: firmware is obtained exclusively in verified versions via the WITT portal. This prevents any unauthorised installation.
