WITT VLDM system: Continuous monitoring of SDS and HVL

Here you can find out more Vertriebsanfrage

The VLDM system continuously monitors passive voltage limiters and voltage limiting devices of Classes 1, 2 and 2.2 in accordance with EN 50526-2 – including voltage surge protectors (SDS) and hybrid voltage limiters (HVL) – and reliably alerts you as soon as intervention is required. As a custom-configured system solution comprising the WB-VLDM, WB-AP and a sensor housed in a compact GRP cabinet, it is built to order to suit your specific installation – with a flexible power supply via battery, solar, auxiliary voltage or traction current (600, 750 or 1,500 V DC) and a choice of GSM, LTE, UMTS or LoRaWAN as the communication channel.

Description

Monitoring of SDS and HVL voltage-limiting devices

The EN 50122 standard requires the continuous monitoring of your surge protection devices (SDS) and voltage limiting devices (HVL) – with the VLDM system, you can switch from rigid, labour-intensive cyclic testing to reactive maintenance. Your maintenance team is automatically notified when intervention is actually required and can proceed directly to the affected component, rather than having to check every unit at fixed intervals. As each VLDM system is individually configured for your plant – from the mounting method and power supply right through to the communication protocol – it can also be deployed in situations where standard solutions reach their limits.

Benefits for the business

  • Reduced staffing costs: reactive rather than cyclical testing.
  • Compliance: Meets the continuous monitoring requirement of EN 50122 / EN 50526-2.
  • Tailor-made: Individual configuration of installation, power supply and communication protocol for each system.
  • Location-independent: Operates on battery power, solar power, auxiliary voltage or on-board power up to 1,500 V DC – even without a fixed mains connection.

Function: monitoring of fuse components

The fuse components are continuously monitored by the built-in WB-VLDM; the operating states can be interpreted by analysing the supply line. The status of the fuse, power source and system can be reported at regular intervals; if an event occurs at the fuse, it is displayed as an event message. Threshold values, target numbers and the SIM PIN can be freely configured via the WB service adapter. The operating time depends on the batteries fitted and other parameters (see power supply options). Two buttons and four LEDs indicate the current system status and allow the system to be reset to its default settings.

Contents

We supply the VLDM system as a complete system solution. This consists of the components agreed with you – such as the WB-VLDM, WB-AP and sensor – which are housed in a compact GRP cabinet. We programme your parameters during the outgoing goods inspection. The VLDM system is usually manufactured to order, tailored specifically to your requirements.
